Pods is a CMS framework for WordPress that lets you add and display your own content types. Unlike WordPress custom post types, each content type gets its own table.
Pods CMS makes it easy to create discrete content that can be used anywhere on your site, or entire pages complete with a customised UI to allow for easy content update by site administrators and contributors. As a Pods CMS developer, the flexibility of the framework is what excites me the most. I built this website using pods extensively throughout.
I especially like Pods UI (the Pods plug-in that allows you to design your own content entry pages for your Pods) as this allows me to create a CMS within WordPress that is visual, well-structured, and easy to use. I am finding that my clients are also seeing the benefits of Pods CMS, and I now have the opportunity to work with large Pods CMS implementations.
As a programmer, I can get under-the-bonnet with Pods CMS if necessary, for example creating helpers and such like if needs be. Building my own site with the Pods system has helped me push it sometimes to its limits, and I consider this really useful experience to pass on to my clients.
As a designer, I create visual interfaces in WordPress that are a snip to update using Pods CMS, all of which helps me build really usable sites for my clients that they can update easily themselves.
